Cheshire stays unbeaten as Federico nets five


CHESHIRE — Michelle Federico scored five times to lead the Cheshire High girls lacrosse team to a 15-5 SCC interdivisional victory over Mercy at home.

Maddy Levy found the back of the net four times. Emma Gaudio and Erica Stauffer each chipped in with two apiece for the Rams (2-0).

Taylor Stauffer and Olivia Larson each had single goals for the Rams. Cheshire goalie Alexa Carbone stopped 12 shots in the Cheshire net.

The Tigers dropped to 1-5.

West Haven 9, Sheehan 7: Caitlin Jagoda had three goals for the Titans in a SCC interdivisional loss at Riccitelli Field.

Natalee Giacondino scored twice and Emilee Giacondino, Abbie Jagoda and Brianna Petrucelli (1 assists) each added single tallies for Sheehan 0-2.

Katie Donovan had 20 stops in net for the Titans.

Josy Militrano made seven saves for West Haven (3-0).

BOYS LACROSSE

Sheehan 13, West Haven 2: Bobby Carey scored four goals and added three assists, leading the Titans an SCC interdivisional win over West Haven on Saturday night at Riccitelli Field.

Bruce Rutkowski also had four goals. Nate Carney had two goals and two helpers. Colin Beaudoin, Mike Cerotti and Vinny Savarese had one goal each.

Sheehan goalie Dan Henessey not only shut down the Westies (0-2) with 14 saves on their 17 shots, but also picked up an assist.

New Haven Co-op 8, Lyman Hall 7: Zach Taylor scored four goals but the New Haven squad outlasted the Trojans in an SCC Tier 3 match at Wilbur Cross High School.

Taylor had one goal in each of the first two quarters and two in the third. C.J. Tangredi notched a pair of goals. Connor Sullivan had a goal and two assists. Vinny Poggio also had an assist.

Emmet Pike won 10 of his 12 draws and Jared Whittier won two of three for Lyman Hall (2-1).

New Haven, composed of players from Cross, Hillhouse and Career, is also 2-1.
