JCC hoop classic has local flavor

NEW HAVEN — Several basketball players with area ties have been selected to compete and coach in this year’s JCC Schoolboy/Schoolgirl Classic.

The doubleheader will be held on Sunday, April 13 at the JCC of Greater New Haven starting at 1:30 p.m.

Chosen for the girls game, which will pit two state teams, was Cheshire senior point guard Missy Bailey. Southington native Amanda Forcucci, who led Lauralton Hall to this year’s Class LL state title, is one of the coaches.

The boys game will pit a Connecticut squad against a team from New Jersey.

Levy Gillespie Jr. of Meriden, who plays for Capital Prep, will represent Connecticut. His father, Levy Gillespie Sr., also of Capital Prep, is one of the coaches.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and $8 for children under age 8.
